An American coin silver spoon is a piece of antique flatware made in the United States before the 1870s. Purity: Pure silver is too soft to be used for eating, so it is mixed with copper, stamped wimply with just the maker's last name or initials. These spoons were hammered by hand rather than mass-produced by machines. you can often see slight variations in the thickness of the handle and bowl.

This piece displays various monograms and was created by J.W.B. (James William Benson), a British watchmaker and silversmith. The mark "og" dates to around 1830 and originates from London.
